What are Lollipop Pool PCR Tests?

The Lolli Pool-PCR-Test is a pleasant and at the same time reliable method for testing for the coronavirus. This is a saliva test in which all test participants keep a swab for 30 seconds in the mouth. The swabs used are medically tested and CE-certified and therefore harmless.

What are the advantages of this procedure?

Compared to rapid antigen tests, the PCR method is more sensitive and more precise. With this method, a SARS-CoV-2 infection can be detected before the infected person is contagious to other people. In comparison to antigen tests, incorrect test results are extremely rare and lead to fewer disruptions in everyday school life and less downtime due to false-positive quick tests in the work environment. In addition, the lollipop test is very easy to use and therefore suitable for every age group, especially children.

How does the Lolli Pool PCR test work?

Each student in a class keeps a special swab for 30 seconds in the mouth. Then the swabs of the test participants intended for the pool are brought together in a collecting vessel and examined as a collective sample (so-called “pool”) in the laboratory using the PCR method. If the test result is negative, no further action is required. If the test result is positive, there is at least one SARS-CoV-2 infection in the group. The laboratory informs about the positive result. A second sample is then taken from each individual in the group by 10 a.m. using the lollipop method and examined in the laboratory using a PCR method. If the result is negative, the student can take part in the lesson again; if the result is positive, the health department will inform you about the next steps.
